Going back into school makes me think about why we go in the first place. I go there every day to learn and what not, and I like to learn. I don’t like to learn for the sake of a test, but learn so that I can use it in everyday life. What really pisses me off these days about school sometimes is not the fact that the school itself looks like its about to crumble but some teachers there that don’t seem to give a damn about the kids their ‘teaching’.
One of my former teachers went on and on about his classroom rules and why I couldn’t do this, etc., but never gave a damn about my success. It was like they made all these sheets and did all of this writing on the board but they didn’t care whether they actually learned crap. Teachers who aren’t passionate about teaching should not teach school at all. Perhaps they’d be happier doing something far, far different where they don’t have to care about other people. Then they say they are preparing you for college or what not, but college will prepare you for college. This is highschool okay?
While teaching is hard work, and I seriously respect good teachers, bad ones are just leaching off the resources of the state and wasting our time as students.
You know your teacher ain’t teaching right when your book teaches you more than they do. Anyways, stupid teacher, don’t get in my way because I’ll succeed whether or not you care, and in 10 years when you watch me on television you’ll be beating yourself up because of it. You can definitely ‘have it your way’.
